Plain Weave
Plain weave is the subject of the next study group. This will allow the use of a diverse set of looms.
As in past studies, all levels of weaving experience are encouraged to participate. Each member can explore the areas they are most interested in and show their work at the meetings that are held on a Monday evening several times throughout the year. We all benefit from each others experiences.
Please let us know if you would like to join the study group. You must be a member of the guild. We meet every other month from September to May.

Weft-Faced Weaves
Weft-faced weaves are the subject of the next study group. This includes drafts on 4-, 6- and 8-harness looms including twill, plain weave, point twill and rosepath treadlings. This is the basis of taquete’ and samitum.
Recommended book is Weft-Faced Pattern Weaves: Tabby to Taquete’ by Nancy Arthur Hoskins.

Color Study Group
Color is the subject of next years study and there are many ways to explore how it is used in weaving: color theory, color blending, color and weave, dyes, iridescence, effects on various fibers. Wherever you are in your understanding of color there is always something more to learn

Stubenitsky Code
The subject of this years study will be the the Stubenitsky Code. It is an interesting method of design developed on many structures you are already familiar with and will appeal to to new and experienced weavers with 4, 8, or more harnesses.
I recommend buying the book, though if you want to look it over, the guild does have a copy that you can check out for one month.

Theo Moorman Technique
The 2018/2019 Study Group focused on the Theo Moorman Technique. Theo Moorman created monumental commissioned works by using a technique that she created as an easier alternative to traditional tapestry weaving. Using a 2 warp system on a floor loom, the Moorman Technique is a method of inlaying weft yarns using a tie down system of warp yarns. Here are a couple of examples of Theo Moorman explorations by our Guild members.
