 Are there volunteer jobs that would fit into my schedule? Yes! We can find ways for you to help that might take a couple of hours, or you can volunteer for a weekend at one of our demonstration events! You tailor your contribution to fit into your schedule. Even small or short amounts of help are very valuable. |
What if I'm not sure I know HOW to contribute to a particular volunteer job? Our guild’s primary purpose is education, either for the public at large, or for our membership! If you have an interest in helping in a certain area, we can support you in learning how to do that job. We are good at training! |
I'd like to take on a larger role in the Guild, but am not sure what the requirements would be. Many of our volunteer positions have job descriptions outlining the duties and responsibilities. You can “shadow” with the person currently in that role until you are ready to become the point person. |
Why should I spend my extra time volunteering for the Guild? Let us count the reasons! First, you will become an important part of our community and deepen friendships with other weavers, spinners, and dyers! Through those relationships, you will learn so much more about the crafts we love and you will grow as a maker and an artist. |
What Kinds Of Volunteer Opportunities Are There?
Demonstrations
Our 501c3 IRS status reflects our organizational purpose of education. We provide demonstrations and programming to the public at a variety of locations around the metroplex. We love sharing our passion of weaving and spinning with children and adults. You can sign up for any number of opportunities and spend as much time as you can.
Board Positions and Work Groups
Board positions are a 2 year commitment, and work group positions can change annually. Some board members or work group chairs find the job satisfying and might stay in that position for more than one year. Advantages of being on the board include having a voice in shaping the direction of the organization. These positions require a larger commitment, but you are supported in learning the duties and responsibilities and the rewards are great.
Behind the Scenes
Want to help, but like to be in the background of the organization? No problem! There are a variety of jobs that would help support our programming like: warping a small loom for demonstrations, cutting samples for the the CHT newsletter, and other tasks. If you have willing hands, we have a way for you to help!

Our fiber world is always changing and we strive to keep our programming and demonstrations both grounded in tradition and being responsive to trends and current interests.
