About Us
Dallas Handweavers and Spinners Guild is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and our mission is to educate the community about weaving, spinning and the fiber arts. Begun in 1972, DH&SG continues to bring programming and hands on experiences to the surrounding community. CONTACT US for possible demonstrations at your event. |
| We conduct weaving workshops, with priority registration for our members, as well as study groups focused on different weaving techniques and weave structures. Members of the guild are also eligible to rent equipment that we have for nominal fees. When rigid heddle looms came on the scene, the guild jumped in with both feet providing looms that can be rented and an ongoing study group exploring all things rigid heddle! Many of our members are master weavers and provide an amazing resource available for mentoring and problem solving. |
The guild has a growing spinning community that includes beginner spinners to highly experienced spinners. Much discussion happens about equipment and questions about techniques, such as how to spin art yarn. Spinning equipment is available for renting for a nominal charge. The spinners meet almost every month throughout the year at a member's home to enjoy community and a delicious pot luck! 'Have Wheel Will Travel' is the motto of many spinners as they enjoy demonstrating the magic of spinning fibers into yarn at various public events. |

| Our members love to dye fibers, warps, cloth, clothing - you name it! Some of the dyeing techniques we have practiced are: immersive dyeing, ice dyeing, indigo dye pot dyeing, and warp painting. Sessions are organized with enough lead time for participants to get their materials ready for the dye session. |
